The Best of Both Worlds
COMMITTED TO ETHICS, ATHLETICS AND ACADEMICS
- R. W. Emerson
At our school, we believe wholeheartedly that sparking a child's interest in a wide range of subjects and activities will allow him or her to develop a love of learning that will see them thrive in many other aspects of life.
Below are some highlights of the enhanced bilingual curriculum that you can expect your child to receive at Emerson Academy. Please feel free to contact us for more details and to learn how you can give your child an education that provides the best of both worlds.
Every Emerson Academy student benefits from age-appropriate structured and unstructured character education, both inside and outside of the classroom. Through the Montessori method, our preschoolers inherently learn respectfulness, self-motivation and self-confidence, and elementary students learn the same through in-class lessons, community service projects and our Commitment to Excellence Through Sport program. Additionally, each and every adult your child comes into contact with at Emerson Academy takes character building one step further by seizing and creating opportunities daily to teach our students values and prosocial skills such as empathy, integrity, loyalty, generosity, honesty, critical thinking and self-discipline, just to name a few.
HEALTH, WELLNESS, MARTIAL ARTS AND SPORTS EDUCATION
During their considerable time with us at Emerson Academy, we endeavour to instil each child with a strong mind, a strong character AND a strong body. Daily Phys. Ed. periods for every class ensure that each student gets a minimum of 60-90 minutes of physical activity each day. This provides children with an outlet for their boundless energy, helps them to focus when inside the classroom, and creates healthy habits at an early age.
Physical education can also be another great source for teaching character building. Through sports and martial arts, children can learn teamwork, goal-setting, confidence, poise, conflict resolution and any number of other measures of good character. In addition to building skills in physical health, wellness, martial arts and team or individual sports, Emerson Academy students also build character within our Phys. Ed. program, by learning the values of accountability, reliability, hard work, and intensity. These characteristics can be learned through a commitment to excellence -- and this commitment is both our promise to, and expectation of, our students.
